How do you implement an algorithm? How do you calculate the answer? How do you configure or deploy the system?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HOW still matters \u2014 but access to HOW has fundamentally changed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, a learner can ask:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>ChatGPT<\/strong> \u2014 explain concepts, reason through problems, learn math\/science, write and debug code.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Claude<\/strong> \u2014 explain concepts, ask Socratic questions and help develop understanding.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Google Gemini<\/strong> \u2014 explore and understand topics using generative AI.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Microsoft Copilot<\/strong> \u2014 assist with explanations, research, writing and technical work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Perplexity<\/strong> \u2014 research questions through conversational answers backed by sources.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Google Search<\/strong> \u2014 find documentation, papers, tutorials, lectures and expert discussions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>YouTube<\/strong> \u2014 access lectures, demonstrations and practical walkthroughs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>GitHub<\/strong> \u2014 study real implementations and open-source code.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ChatGPT explicitly supports answering questions and <strong>explaining concepts<\/strong>, while Anthropic&#8217;s education work with Claude emphasizes guiding students, Socratic questioning and understanding fundamental principles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So <strong>HOW is increasingly available on demand.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The scarce skill is increasingly knowing <strong>what to ask, why it matters, where to apply it, when to use it \u2014 and whether the answer is actually correct.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WHY?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why are we solving this problem? Why does this technique work? Why did the system or model fail? Why is this solution preferable to another?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WHAT?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What exactly is the problem? What assumptions are being made? What data do we need? What does success actually mean?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WHERE?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where should this technology be applied? Where will it fail? Where does it create genuine business or societal value?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WHEN?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When should we use it? When should we avoid it? When is a simpler technique sufficient? When should a human override the machine?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">And then \u2014 HOW?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How do we implement, test, deploy, operate and improve it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Consider <strong>Machine Learning<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Teaching someone:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">model.fit(X, y)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">is relatively easy today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deeper education is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2192 <strong>WHY<\/strong> do we need ML at all? \u2192 <strong>WHAT<\/strong> problem are we actually trying to predict or optimize? \u2192 <strong>WHERE<\/strong> did the data originate? \u2192 <strong>WHEN<\/strong> is linear regression sufficient instead of a neural network? \u2192 Why might accuracy be the wrong metric? \u2192 What happens when the data distribution changes? \u2192 Where can bias, leakage and overfitting enter the system? \u2192 When should the model <strong>not<\/strong> be deployed?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This distinction becomes even more important because AI assistance can produce an answer without guaranteeing that the learner understands it.
